BESCOM Efficient Lighting Program (BELP)
BESCOM presents the innovatie Bescom Efficient Lighting Program (BELP) Sponsored by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Energy Conservation and Commercialisation (ECO II) initiative. This program is implemented by International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC), Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and BESCOM. BELP gives you attractive discounts on energy-efficient CFLs from official suppliers ASIAN, OSRAM and PHILIPS.
The Bescom Efficient Lighting Programme (BELP) launched on Friday is for residential lighting. The programme covers 16 lakh domestic consumers, who can replace their conventional lamps with energy-efficient Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) in high-usage areas such as corridors, kitchens and porticos.
Every light replaced with CFL, according to Bescom, will save consumers around Rs. 17 per month. BELP will reach out to consumers through innovative direct sale and monthly installation schemes.
The consumer will have the option of direct purchase or an instalment scheme for a period of nine months.
Philips, Asian and Osram are official suppliers of CFLs, which carry a one-year warranty.
The project, launched with technical assistance from United States Agency for International Development, will be monitored regularly by Bescom and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited.
Bescom will sell a maximum of five CFLs per customer.
IMPORTANT TIPS FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN BELP
Show the latest electricity bill and collect a BELP Voucher stamped by the BESCOM officers at the Soujanya Counter at your BESCOM Sub-Division.
Tenants should obtain a consent letter from the registered consumers.
Present the filled in voucher at retail shops indicated overleaf to obtain CFLs.
Pay in 9 monthly installments along with your monthly electricity bill.
Avail a discount on bulk purchase on cash payment at the retail shops.
Maximum 5 bulbs allowed to each customer for each installation.
Replacement will be done within 48 hours during warranty period.
Don't be carried away by the footpath vendors and salesmen who visit your doorsteps for sale of CFL's.
Beware of imitators of such CFLs. Buy only from retail outlets of BESCOM
